Vault V + Vault V: Act II By Bryson Boutte

Vault V

Since I started releasing melody-only versions of my past releases, I’ve been taken aback by the amount of support it has received across various platforms. I was always concerned about how it would be received, but not only has it reignited interest among people who have grown with my music, it’s also brought in new fans from different genres than I normally cater to.

This experience has made me reflect a lot on people’s perception of their ability to serve fans and sell music. There's a common belief that “people don’t buy music,” or that “streaming has killed music sales.” While it’s true that music consumption isn’t the same as it was in the '90s, my logic is: who cares about how things worked 30 years ago? There’s a lot of evidence that music is still being sold, and it took me a moment to reconsider my own approach. I see people building communities around artists, pooling money together, and even buying leaked versions of songs. People are still willing to and wanting to buy music.

So, to fellow artists: don’t be afraid to put your music up for sale. I promise, there’s an audience out there who are buyers.
