A naval commander who captained the HMS Blonde on a voyage to Hawai’i. The mission? To return the bodies of King Kamehameha II and Queen Kamāmalu, who both tragically passed away during a visit to England. The voyage also included artist Robert Dampier and botanist James McCrae of the Royal Horticultural Society.
